“TWISTED”has to be my most highly anticipated read for 2019. After reading Thirteen, nothing seemed to compare. The storyline had me hooked and I just couldn’t forget it. So when it was announced that “Twisted”would be released this year, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy.
I simply don’t know where to begin with this latest release from Cavanagh. It was brilliantly confusing, very twisted (literally) and thoroughly fast paced. It didn’t leave me with quite the same feeling as Thirteen did last year, but I would still recommend this thriller to all my thriller loving friends.
Even now after finishing “Twisted”I am still thinking about certain aspects of the storyline. It is hard to truly review this novel without giving away any spoilers, but if you have read this and want to discuss please get in touch.
Everything about this novel is twisted. From the first page you realise that already we are talking about a story within a story, and as the storyline progresses you start to understand that the story you are reading about is being written as a story by the killer. Incredibly twisted! Incredibly confusing! Incredibly brilliant!
I found myself confused at the start, angry in the middle and by the end I was routing for the truth. It was certainly a book I couldn’t put down and I was definitely invested emotionally throughout.
It is probably for the best that I do not delve any further – the less you know the more you will enjoy it! But in the words of J. T. LeBeau “don’t believe a single word you read”.
Albeit a standalone story for Cavanagh, there is a nice homage to Eddie Flynn, the hotshot lawyer we have all grown to love in Cavanagh’s on going thriller series.
Like most reviewers out there reading a thriller that has an obvious twist is no where near as enjoyable as one that catches you off guard and completely by surprise. I have to say that although I was surprised at who J. T. LeBeau really was, I was no where near as surprised as the additional twist near the end! So much so, that I uttered the drawn out sound “Noooo”as I was turning the pages, eager to find out more. I’ll admit I didn’t see that twist coming and the ending was just as great! Sometimes “the truth can be far too brutal”!
Bring it on Cavanagh – I cannot wait to read more from you in the future! If you haven’t read anything by this author then where have you been…Steve Cavanagh should be on everyone’s auto buy list.
